As with any mission effort, there will no doubt be many in your group who will need to raise support to come. This is something that is often looked upon with as much excitement as having six root canals.

But fund raising doesn't have to be viewed as a chore. Instead, it gives others an opportunity to be involved in the Medical Mission that you are going on. Many of these people can't go on a Medical Mission trip themselves, but can help you to go. Give them that chance.

Some in your group will feel that they cannot ask anyone to help them go. Be very careful here. This situation may be caused by pride. Satan may be using this as a means to stop you from going with the message of the Gospel. He will do anything to keep you from taking the saving message. If he can stop you before you even go, then he wins in several ways. He stops you from taking the message, and stops those you would have taught before they even hear the message. Don't let this happen because you are embarrassed to ask for help. Remember, you are not asking for help for yourself, but for help in taking the message of Jesus to the lost.

Below, you will find a sample letter. This letter has been used by hundreds of our workers, going all over the world. It is very effective. Take it, and make it your letter. Then send it out. Send it to everyone you know. Don't make the decision for them by saying to yourself, "Oh, I won't send Uncle John this letter, he can't (or won't) help." Let the person make the choice themselves. Send it to everyone.

Someone once told me that they didn't understand why they had gotten such a small response. I asked them how many letters they sent out and they replied by saying, "I sent 6 letters, but each person I sent them to could have sent me the entire amount I need." I turned to someone else in the group who had already raised her support and asked her how many letters she sent out. Her reply was 116!

The point here is this, SEND LETTERS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. Don't just send to a few people who you know have money. Send it to everyone. And don't make the mistake of not sending the letters to people who you know are already involved in other projects. They are the ones with mission hearts! They are more likely than anyone to help you in your efforts for the Master.

And as you send the letters, pray, pray, and pray. Ask for God's blessing on your efforts, and ask for God's peace. He will bless you beyond belief.

Dear ___________,

I have been asked to serve as a (Medical Professional, Personal Worker) with the medical mission program of Partners in Progress. This is a unique combination of medical professionals and Bible teachers who team up to go to underdeveloped countries of the world to conduct what are called Medical Evangelism projects.

These teams have gone on over 130 trips to 35 different countries on five continents on missions of love and grace. As a result, governments have become friendly toward the church. People who have never before seen a doctor or dentist have been treated by Christian health care workers and more than 7,000 have been converted to Christ.

Partners in Progress has been met with incredible success in Guyana, South America. Last year they saw over 15,500 people in their clinics, and baptized over 400! This year, Partners in Progress will take 9 or 10 different Medical Missions to Guyana with the goal to reach even more than last year. (enter dates of your trip) a team will be going to Guyana, South America, on just such a project and they have asked me to go with them.

The actual cost per person will be ($3200) which must be raised by April 30th. In order to make this mission possible I appeal to you to have a part in the project by assisting me in any way you can.

Checks should be made to (church organization) and marked for (Your Name and Guyana) and sent to me or the church. A receipt from (church organization) will be sent to acknowledge your tax deductible gift. Thank you for your concern and direct involvement in this effort.

Send this letter, using your name and address at the top and fill in the correct information where ( ) appear. Send to 100 people, i.e., friends, fellow Christians, family, and only to congregations that know you well. This letter and approach has been used by several hundred people before you to raise the funds needed to participate in our projects. It works!
